According to the Computer Research Association, enrollment in undergraduate computer science classes increased this year, up 6.2% from last year. This is the first increase in six years. That 6.25% includes both majors and pre-majors. There's been an increase in computer science majors as well, up 9.5% from last year. This is particularly encouraging news, given that the number of graduating computer science majors fell last year, down 10%, and that was down from a 20% decline the previous year. Last year's graduating class of computer science majors was the smallest in ten years. Ph.Ds in computer science have increased as well; rising 5.7% over last year.
